Foxconn, one of the largest mobile phone OEMs in the world, has filed a lawsuit against battery-maker BYD in the High Court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for IP violations.

In the petition, Foxconn accuses BYD of obtaining confidential information from its former employees. Foxconn says that BYD and a number of its subsidiaries enabled former employees of Shenzhen Futaihong Precision Industry Company and Hong Fu Jin Precision Industry (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd, which are affiliate and sister companies of Foxconn, respectively, to obtain confidential business information of Foxconn, which has caused a loss of RMB5.13 billion for Foxconn.

Foxconn has also sued many former employees who apparently disclosed the company's business secrets, and one of those employees has already been detained by police. Chen Weiliang, chairman and president of Foxconn, says that Foxconn won't spare any effort to protect their business secret and their clients' confidential information.
