Nokia Issues Warning About Bad Batteries

    Nokia said Tuesday that millions of its cell phone batteries could potentially overheat.

    The warning applies to Nokia-branded BL-5C batteries manufactured by Japan¡¯s Matsushita Battery Industrial Co. Ltd. between December 2005 and November 2006. Matsushita is one of several companies that produce more than 300 million BL-5C batteries.

    Nokia said 46million batteries are included in this advisory.

    Nokia said there have been approximately 100 incidents involving the batteries, all occurring while they are being charged. The company said no serious injuries or damage have been reported from the overheating batteries.
