Mountain Telephone, a rural cooperative communications provider, has deployed Fujitsu Network Communications’ FLASHWAVE optical networking products and NETSMART management platform to deliver IPTV services to West Liberty, Ky.

    Mountain Telephone is using the platforms to upgrade its network to a new 10gbps IPTV infrastructure that operates over the existing network. The FLASHWAVE 4500 Multiservice Provisioning Platform is compatible with the existing voice and data network. High-capacity transmission is provided by the FLASHWAVE 7120 optical extension system, which uses wavelength division multiplexing to carry services on a single optical fiber.

    Management and service provisioning will be supported by the NETSMART software suite, which will allow Mountain Telephone to quickly turn up SONET, WDM and Ethernet services, the company said.
